Make no mistake, The Orphanage escape room is not a haunted house. At DarkPark we’re never out to give you gray hairs, we find personal growth much more interesting. We push you just a little bit out of your comfort zone so you can feel alive again, but we never cross the line!

We call it fun-scary.

That being said, it’s important to realize that The Orphanage is indeed a very intense escape room. It’s not a cozy room with puzzles. A grim atmosphere is created and the tension keeps building throughout. It never becomes overwhelming, and if at any point you’re no longer enjoying yourself, you can always leave the game. In practice, however, we find that players enjoy it far too much to stop early.

Our advice? Just surrender to it. Often, it’s the things that scare us a little that end up becoming our favourite memories.

Do you really want to know? Alright then; there’s no actor in The Orphanage. The only interaction you’ll have with other people is before and after with the game master, and during the game with your teammates of course, but hopefully you can trust them 😉

When you hear “orphan escape room,” you might picture little girls screaming, but you can breathe easy. There are absolutely no actors in these escape rooms. That doesn’t mean this escape room isn’t thrilling, though. You may not encounter any living people, but we’re not saying anything about non-living entities…

During the game, the tension builds up quite a bit, so if you’re heavily pregnant or have a very weak heart, you might want to reconsider whether it’s wise to visit The Orphanage.

In The Orphanage there are several elevations, which unfortunately makes it impossible for someone in a wheelchair to play this escape room. If you have limited mobility or use crutches but can still manage to go up and down stairs with some effort, then The Orphanage is doable. People with impaired vision or limited hearing can still take part in The Orphanage, as long as there is at least one participant with full sight and hearing in the team.

It’s important to be aware that The Orphanage escape room makes use of very loud sounds and frightening imagery. This may be very overwhelming for those with visual, auditory, or mental disabilities.

What you wear while playing The Orphanage doesn’t matter all too much. You won’t (or at least shouldn’t) get dirty, or have to exert a ton of effort. It might be necessary for you to crawl or climb a bit, however, so we don’t recommend a three-piece suit or huge stiletto heels. Just wear something you feel comfortable in that lets you move around well.

Actually, if you want the best possible experience, we strongly recommend coming with a team of four. Escape rooms are a unique form of private entertainment. You’ll get a special, personal experience, nothing like the mass attractions you’d find in a theme park. Trust us, in this case, less really is more.

The fire department doesn’t allow it either, so we stick to the limit of 6 players per game. That way, everyone stays safe and you get the best possible experience!

In the escape room The Orphanage, the illusion is created that you are locked inside. In actuality, you can exit the escape room at any time by using the emergency stop present in every room in case of emergencies. There’s also constant supervision from outside via cameras and microphones placed throughout the escape room. All of our escape rooms completely abide by the legal requirements in terms of safety.
